Sessions

9 - 10:30 AM: Attending: Joe, Jill, Ryan, Doug, Tom, Pat
1 - 2:30 PM: Attending: Annette

Why use a wiki?

Wikis remove some limitations of time and space from collaboration. So this session will be outlined for those who missed it, and screencasted. Rather than using the free Jing software for this screencast (since Jing will be discussed and perhaps demonstrated), Camtasia Relay (not a free service) will be use to screencast this event. The result will be posted here. (Addendum: the screencast capture was unsuccessful. Sorry.)

Purpose

The end of the 2008-09 academic year is drawing near. So also are the end of 2-year fellowships. So this is a time to think in advance about what ought to happen as these periods draw to a close. Here are some of the topics we should cover:

1. Reporting:

--2009 annual report
--interacting with Naomi Peterson (March 24, 25, 26...)
--survey questions (at this coming link)

2. Knowledge transfer

--transfer of knowledge, materials, contacts, suggestions, lessons learned...

3. Continued Association

--avenues for voluntary continued association with NDeRC, continued professional development toward education and public outreach specialization
--blogging (record of past activity (3x in March), continued activity through graduate school, continued membership possible beyond graduation)

4. New Cohort

--review of position description (comments by email)
--interaction/overlap

5. Blogging

--for all of these opportunities, blogging can be part of the solution set: linked to in reports, a place to describe the past or imagine the future, immediately and in the near or further-term future, as part of collaborations including new fellows, teachers, students
--a review of some technology: Jing to Flickr to Blog.
